Forskningsföretaget Sveriges Kyrkor : Organisation Utgivning Arkiv

This survey deals with the Sveriges Kyrkor research programme and its book series Sveriges Kyrkor. Konsthistoriskt inventarium (The Churches of Sweden. An Art Historical Inventory). Publication of the series began in 1912 with the aim of describing the churches in terms of art, architecture, and cultural heritage. In 1940 Sveriges Kyrkor was associated with The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities as one of its research programmes.

Forskningsföretaget Sveriges Kyrkor. Organisation, utgivning, arkiv (The Sveriges Kyrkor research programme. Organization, publishing, archive) provides an overview of the organization of Sveriges Kyrkor from its founding in 1912; as a project at Riksantikvarieämbetet (the Swedish National Heritage Board) in the 1970s; and of the later life of Sveriges Kyrkor, with an emphasis on the second half of the 20th century. The church descriptions and the publishing activity have resulted in an extensive archive which is presented. The book also contains lists of the publications, the authors, and others who have been connected to the programme.
